We Are Warriors is a non-profit founded by Nooky a musician, DJ, and fierce advocate for Indigenous Blak excellence. Growing up, he was told his future would be limited to football or crime, and many Indigenous kids still hear the same limiting words today. Nooky’s mission is to change that by running workshops that help young people break free from those narratives and channel their creativity, passion, and even their anger into creative paths. To support that mission, we helped create “The Book Designed to Be Burned.” The book tells the Native story of the Black Cockatoo, who saves everyone from a bushfire, flying through the flames until its feathers turn black. It’s a powerful symbol of courage, transformation, and identity perfect for a workshop built to burn away old narratives and spark new ones.
